Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at St. KVG19 (Bagail Bay, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 19 Aug. 2014; a specimen observed at Balang Island , New Hanover , 0–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south fo Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand bottoms of lagoons and sheltered reefs, associated with an alpheid shrimp, 5–30 m depth. Marine.
