Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 8 Jan. 2010.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Palau and New Guinea, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on sheltered sand bottoms including seagrass habitats, 0–20 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
