Ctenomys conoveri Osgood 1946 View in CoL , Fieldiana Zool., 31: 47.
Type Locality: Paraguay, Boqueron, 16 km W of Filadelfia (22 o 15’S, 60 o 10’W) GoogleMaps .
Vernacular Names: Chacoan Tuco-tuco.
Distribution: Gran Chaco of Paraguay, NE Argentina, and SE Boliva.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Cabrera (1961), based on Osgood (1946), placed this form in a separate subgenus Chacomys , as did Nowak (1999). Recognition of this monotypic subgenus is not supported by allozymes ( Cook and Yates, 1994) or sequence analysis ( Lessa and Cook, 1998). Karyotype has 2n=48-50 and FN=70 ( Anderson et al., 1987).
