Lectotype (Lassen in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 482. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 932.13, right specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Medicago monspeliaca (L.) Trautv. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Ali (in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 100: 292. 1977) and others have treated Herb. Linn. No. 932.12 ( LINN) as the lectotype, but this cannot be regarded as relevant original material because it lacks Linnaeus’ annotation with the Species Plantarum species number (in this case “5”) and is a post-1753 addition to the collection and not original material for the name.
