Type Locality: Namibia, Great Namaqualand, Great Brukkaros Mtn, near Berseba.

Vernacular Names: Brukkaros Pygmy Rock Mouse.

Distribution: S Namibia (vicinity of type locality and south of there between Aus region in the west and South African border near Rietfontein area in the east) and N South Africa (extreme Northern Cape Prov. on south bank of the Orange River at Augrabies Falls; USNM 452333).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Geographic limits of this distinctive species have yet to be determined. Reviewed by de Graaff (1997 kk), who claimed that it was known only from vicinity of the Great Brukkaros Mtn but speculated that the range may extend southward into the Northern Cape Prov.
