35. Hyalorrhipis calcarata (Vosseler, 1902)
Diagnosis: This species can be identified by its antennae flattened at base, lower anterior angle of lateral lobe of pronotum attenuated and projecting; inner spurs of hind tibia strong, longer than external one and as long as second segment of tarsus; tegmina with brown ferruginous spots, wings transparent.
Habitats: It lives in amongst grass, usually dry, though one was caught on long grass in water and on old cultivation and vegetation.
Material examined: Al-Shati region: Brack , 1♂, 1♀, on grass & vegetable, 5.ix.1994 . Sebha region: Sebha, 2 ♂, 3 ♀, on vegetable, 15.viii.1995 .
Localities: Cyrenaica: Bengasi; Tripolitania: Ain Zara, mizda; Fezzan: Brack.
Distribution: Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Rio de Oro, Mauretania.
Remarks: This species was recorded from Cyrenaica by Salfi (1929) and from Tripolitania by Jannone (1938) and La Greca (1958). It is apparently a minor pest.
