Type locality. Costa Rica, San José, Est. Santa Elena, Las Nubes, 1210m, 9 ° 59.240 'N 83 ° 57.723 'W. Holotype male INBioAbout INBio.

Male. Head: Black. Face pollen concentrated ventral to tubercle and laterally ventral to frontal prominence, white pile only on ventral ½. Lunule entirely black. Frontal triangle with pair of median lateral streaks of silverywhite pollen. Vertical triangle with black pile in a single median row; ocellar triangle separated by its length from posterior eye margin. Eye contiguity as long as vertical triangle length. Eye with posterior indentation at level of antenna insertion. Antennal insertions confluent, ventral margin with short dorsal extension. Dorsal ¼ of occiput with 2 rows of simple black pile, anterior row shorter; middle 2 ⁄ 4 with 2–3 anterior rows of simple black pile and 1 posterior row of long scale-like white pile; ventral ¼ with 2–3 irregular rows of scale-like white pile.

Thorax: Scutum black, sparse dull brown-pollinose; scutum with black erect pile, with anterior uninterrupted row of longer shining white pile. Scutellum black, black pilose, pile slightly longer than on scutum, sub-scutellar fringe long and black. Pleuron black and mostly black pilose, except white pilose antero-ventrally on anterior anepisternum, meron and metaepisternum, also with a few white pile on dorsal katepisternum. Plumula brown. Calypter gray with black margin. Halter brown, capitulum light yellow.

Wing: Mostly dark brown on basal ⅔ (dark on cells bc, c, sc, r, basal ¾ of r 1, basal 2 / 5 of r 2 + 3, base of r 4 + 5, bm, basal ⅓ of dm, cu p and basal ⅓ of cua 1), remainder of wing lighter, entirely microtrichose; alula brown on anterior ½, large, basally 1.8 times and apically 4 times as broad as c cell, entirely microtrichose.

Legs: All legs black, some femoral apices sometimes slightly lightened.

Abdomen: Black; ~ 3 times as long as thorax. First tergite mostly black pilose, white pilose on ventral ⅓, bare dorso-medially. Second tergite long, length ~ 3 times minimum width, and pale on baso-lateral ½ margin; 2 nd tergite with central rectangular region of dull black pollen extending to lateral margin subapically, and black pilose except white on baso-lateral 4 / 5, pile appressed dorsally and longer and erect laterally. Third tergite trapezoidal, length ~ 2 times minimum width, pale on baso-lateral corners and with a pair of central small vittate pale maculae; 3 rd tergite with large central triangular region of dull black pollen, and mainly with appressed black pile, except white and erect on baso-lateral ½. Fourth tergite rectangular and wide, with a pair of central small vittate pale maculae, and entirely with black appressed pile; remaining characteristics as on 3 rd. Fifth tergite shorter than 4 th, lateral margin pale; remaining characteristics as on 4 th. Genitalia: Cercus with 1 row of pile on medial margin and 3 irregular rows of pile on lateral margin. Surstylus sub-oval in lateral view, directed ventrally, pilose on dorso-basal ½, with setulae (around 30) ventrally on anterior ⅓ and on basal ⅓. Subepandrial sclerite trapezoidal in ventral view. Hypandrium notch extending to anterior 3 / 5, with slightly concave margin. Distiphallus with anterior surface straight. Postgonite short, with ventral and dorsal surfaces straight; postgonite apex slightly convex, with acute dorsal extremity and short acute ventral extremity.

Female: Female unknown.

Length. 11.5mm; wing 8mm.

Distribution. Costa Rica (San José).

Primary type. Holotype: Male in good condition, with genitalia dissected and placed in a plastic tube pinned with the specimen. Holotype labels: ‘ COSTA RICA, Prov.
