"Habitat in America septentrionali." RCN: 963.

Lectotype (Fosberg in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 69: 585. 1942): Herb. Linn. No. 151.6 ( LINN) .

Current name: Cornus sericea L. ( Cornaceae ).

Note: This name was was based on several elements leading Rickett (in Rhodora 36: 272. 1934) to propose its rejection as a nomen ambiguum. However, Fosberg (l.c.) disagreed, using the name in the sense of his designated type material in LINN (and C. stolonifera Michx. ). See also Eyde (in Bot. Rev. 54: 255. 1988).
