Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1-10 ): Wingspan 15.0–20.0 mm. Filatima karsholti is characterized by the forewing with brown scales along veins, with black spot at middle of fold as well as at middle and end of cell respectively, the termen with black dots, and the lustrous grayish brown hindwings; in the male genitalia by the subtrapezoid uncus, the deeply emarginated posterior margin of the vinculum, the subparallelly sided saccus longer than the sacculus, and the phallus with three cornuti and a triangular sclerite that extends from basal 1/3 to distal 1/4 ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21-25 ). This species is similar to F. sciocrypta ( Meyrick, 1936) in both external appearance and male genitalia. However, it can be distinguished from the latter by the deeply emarginated posterior margin of the vinculum and the presence of a triangular sclerite in the phallus. In contrast, F. sciocrypta has a slightly emarginated posterior margin of the vinculum and lacks a triangular sclerite in the phallus ( Bidzilya & Nupponen 2018: figs 50, 52, 53). The constrasting features of the male genitalia between this species and F. asiatica Sattler, 1961 are given in the diagnosis specifically for the latter species.
Distribution. China (Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang), Mongolia, Russia.
