Remarks. COnSidering the Original generic diagnOSiS prOVided by JOgunOOri et al. (2004), the haptOral elementS Of thiS neW SpecieS differ frOm thOSe Of Heteropriapulus Spp., but the elementS Of the male cOpulatOry cOmpleX fall intO thOSe Of the Original generic diagnOSiS. LikeWiSe, H. simplex dOeS nOt preSent elementS Of the male cOpulatOry cOmpleX cOmplying With the Original generic diagnOSiS, but preSentS haptOral elementS that fall intO the Original generic diagnOSiS. NOnetheleSS, the mOlecular data preSented in thiS Study StrOngly SuppOrt generic placement Of bOth Heteropriapulus anchoradiatus n. sp. and H. simplex ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ).

Heteropriapulus anchoradiatus n. sp. differS frOm H. heterotylus and H. simplex (and alSO all Other SpecieS Of the genuS deScribed aS neW in the preSent paper—See belOW) in the pOSSeSSiOn Of a lOng, SigmOid SclerOtized Vagina. BeSideS, H. anchoradiatus n. sp. pOSSeSSeS Ventral anchOrS With ShOrt Shaft and preSence Of Superficial and deep rOOtS, WhereaS all Other SpecieS Of Heteropriapulus knOWn SO far haVe Ventral anchOrS With an elOngate Shaft and a flattened baSe. ThiS neW SpecieS iS alSO characterized by haVing a cOnSpicuOuS pOSterO-medial prOceSS On the dOrSal bar, Which iS incOnSpicuOuS, ShOrt Or eVen abSent in cOngenerS. All hOOk pairS preSent a rOund, Weakly SclerOtized Subunit at the baSe Of the hOOkS, Which iS abSent in the cOngenerS. Heteropriapulus anchoradiatus n. sp., Similarly aS H. simplex , dOeS nOt preSent SclerOtized patch aSSOciated With the Ventral bar.
