Clavomicrus orousseti sp. n.

( Figs 1–10 View FIGURES 1–5 View FIGURES 6–10 )

Type material. Holotype: PHILIPPINES ( LUZON) : ♂, two labels: " Philippines , Luzon , Mountain / Prov., Mount Data, 2200-2300 m. / near Mount Data Lodge, / 23/ 24-XII-1979, Dipterocarpaceae / forest, sifting + Berlese / leg. Deharveng & Orousset" [white, printed], " CLAVOMICRUS / orousseti m. / P. Jałoszyński, 2019 / HOLOTYPUS " [red, printed] ( MHNG) . Paratypes: 6 ♂♂, 5 ♀♀, same data as for holotype, except for yellow " PARATYPUS " labels ( MHNG, cPJ) .

Diagnosis. As in genus; aedeagus in ventral view broadest in sub-basal region, strongly narrowing toward subtriangular apex; endophallus with bell-like structure in subapical region.

Description. Body of male ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–5 ) elongate, strongly convex, from dark reddish brown to nearly black with slightly lighter tibiae, tarsi and antennae, setae slightly lighter than cuticle; BL 1.00– 1.08 mm (mean 1.03 mm).

Head ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–5 ) broadest at large, strongly convex eyes, HL 0.13 mm, HW 0.28–0.29 mm (mean 0.28 mm); frons and vertex convex together, frons with a pair of barely discernible diffuse tubercles. Punctures on vertex and frons inconspicuous; setae short, sparse, recumbent. Antennae ( Figs 1–4 View FIGURES 1–5 ) slender, AnL 0.46–0.48 mm (mean 0.47 mm); antennomeres I–II each strongly elongate, III–IX slightly to distinctly elongate, X and XI fused, forming a large oval club; setae on antennomeres I–IX sparse and long, those on club much denser, with several setae conspicuously longer than others.

Pronotum subtrapezoidal, broadest slightly in front of middle but indistinctly narrowing posterad; PL 0.33– 0.35 mm (mean 0.34 mm), PW 0.43–0.45 mm (mean 0.43 mm). Anterior margin and sides in anterior half rounded; lateral margins in posterior half nearly straight and indistinctly microserrate; posterior pronotal corners slightly obtuse-angled, well defined; posterior margin shallowly bisinuate with short but relatively deep median emargination; base with a shallow but distinct transverse groove connecting a pair of small and shallow pits, and with a pair of additional lateral pits of similar diameter and depth. Punctures on pronotal disc small but distinct, relatively dense, those near middle separated by spaces 1.5–2 × as wide as diameters of punctures; setae sparse, short and recumbent to suberect, additionally pronotum with two pairs of distinctly, but not conspicuously longer setae, one near each lateral corner and one pair in front of mesoscutellum.

Elytra ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–5 ) slightly more convex than pronotum, oval, broadest near anterior third; EL 0.55–0.60 mm (mean 0.57 mm), EW 0.50–0.53 mm (mean 0.52 mm), EI 1.05–1.15; humeral calli indistinct, humeral area demarcated by a step-wise elevation; apices rounded together. Punctures on elytra much less distinct than those on pronotum, fine, shallow and inconspicuous; setae sparse, short, recumbent, additionally each elytron with several curved and erect dorsolateral setae. Hind wings absent.

Legs long and slender; unmodified.

Aedeagus ( Figs 7–10 View FIGURES 6–10 ) elongate; AeL 0.24; median lobe in ventral view broadest in sub-basal region, strongly narrowing toward subtriangular apex; endophallus with bell-like structure in subapical region; each paramere with one subapical and two apical setae of unequal lengths.

Female. Externally indistinguishable from male. BL 1.03–1.05 mm (mean 1.03 mm); HL 0.13 mm, HW 0.28– 0.30 mm (mean 0.29 mm), AnL 0.45 mm; PL 0.35 mm, PW 0.45–0.48 mm (mean 0.46 mm); EL 0.55–0.58 mm (mean 0.56 mm), EW 0.50–0.54 mm (mean 0.52 mm), EI 1.05–1.10.

Distribution. Northern Philippines: northern Luzon.

Etymology. This species is dedicated to Jean Orousset, one of the collectors of the type material, in appreciation for his contribution to the systematics of Scydmaeninae.
