Genus Ditomopyge Newell 1931

Type species. Phillipsia (Griffithides) scitula Meek & Worthen 1865 .

Diagnosis. See Brezinski & Stitt (1982).

Remarks. Ditomopyge was originally placed within the family Phacopidae by Newell (1931), but was moved to Proetidae when new specimens were found to be comparable to what Weller (1935) described as Griffithides scitula . Ditomopyge was placed within the subfamily Ditomopyginae by Hupé (1953).

Age and distribution. Westphalian (Late Carboniferous) to Wuchiapingian (Late Permian) in Australia, Central Asia, Europe and North America (Owens & Hahn 1993; Owens 2004).
