Type species. Carbonocoryphe bindemanni Richter & Richter 1950 .

Diagnosis. See Hahn & Brauckmann (1975: 307).

Remarks. Engel & Morris (1980; 1989) assigned a number of Australian Carbonocoryphe species to the subgenera C. (Aprathia) and C. (Winterbergia). Three of these species are considered nomen dubium (discussed below). The species C.? (A.?) rockhamptonensis and C.? (W.?) waterhousei have been tentatively retained within the genus. These classifications have been thought to be suspect by Hahn (pers. comm. 2011); see below for remarks on the classification of these species within Carbonocoryphe .

Subgenera Included. Carbonocoryphe (Carbonocoryphe) Richter & Richter 1950 , Carbonocoryphe (Aprathia) Hahn & Brauckmann 1975 , Carbonocoryphe (Winterbergia) Hahn & Brauckmann 1975 . Age and distribution. Tournaisian to Viséan in Australia, Europe and North America (Brezinski 1998; Hahn & Hahn 1969; Engel & Morris 1980).
