Distribution. From the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote) and northern Africa (southern Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Mauritania, Niger, Sudan) eastwards to southern Israel and the Arabian Peninsula ( Saudia Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates) ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ).

Pollen hosts. Narrowly oligolectic on Heliotropium , e.g. H. ramosissimum ( Hohmann et al. 1993; Gotlieb et al. 2014). Additional flower record: Neurada procumbens (Neuradaceae) ( Peters 1974).

Nesting biology. Unknown.

Notes. Based on the available data (see literature and new records above), H. circumventa has probably at least two generations per year on the Canary Islands, in the United Arab Emirates and possibly also in northern Africa. The appressed white pilosity on head, mesosoma and metasoma differs in extent and density among different populations of H. circumventa ; it is most strongly developed in populations of the Arabian Peninsula and least developed in populations of the Canary Islands and Morocco.
