Material examined. 12 queens 109 workers 3 males (IAB).

Distribution in Gansu. Abundant at medium to high elevations of the northwestern Qilianshan mountains, rare at medium to high elevations of western mountains and Qinghai-Tibetan plateau in the southwest ( Fig. 51 View FIGURE 40 – 54 ); 13 localities between 2148 and 3656 m (IAB).

Distribution in China. Sichuan, Xizang, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang (IAB).

Forage plants. ALLIACEAE : Allium senescens ; ASTERACEAE : Cosmos bipinnatus , Ixeridium gracile ; GENTIAN- ACEAE: Gentiana algida ; FABACEAE : Astragalus adsurgens , Hedysarum tanguticum ; LAMIACEAE : Caryopteris mongholica ; ROSACEAE : Rubus sp.; SCROPHULARIACEAE : Pedicularis kansuensis .
