Type locality. Igarapé do Leão , Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.

Bionomics. Immature stages of this species occur mainly in tree holes but can also be found in other phytotelmata, such as epiphytic bromeliads and traveller’s palms ( Phenakospermum , Strelitziaceae ). Females were collected landing on humans in forest during the daytime (08:00‒15:00) ( Cerqueira 1961).

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Paraná and São Paulo ( Forattini et al. 1986a, 1988; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2010, 2011; Moreno et al. 2011; Cunha et al. 2019; Silva et al. 2019).
