Type locality. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Bionomics. Immature stages have been found in tree holes and Brazil nut pods ( Bertholletia excelsa ) ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942). Larvae of this species were observed preying on mosquitoes of the genera Culex Linnaeus, 1758 and Limatus Theobald, 1901 in accumulated water in banana leaves at ground level ( Bonne & Bonne-Wepster 1925).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Pará and Rondônia * ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Forattini et al. 1970; Fé et al. 2003; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2011).

* New record. State of Rondônia, Machadinho D’Oeste, road (linha) MA 32, coll. Lourenço-de-Oliveira, R., 31/III/1987, reared from larvae collected in a tree hole, 1♂ LePeG (Voucher CCULI1092).

Occurrence in other countries. Ecuador, French Guiana, Panama, Dominican Republic and Suriname ( Wilkerson et al. 2021).
