Type locality. Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago.

Bionomics. Immature stages of this species develop in water accumulated in cut or broken bamboo internodes ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942). Females have been collected mostly with human landing catch and opossum bait in the Atlantic Forest at ground level ( Guimarães et al. 1985, 1987).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. Occurrence in other countries. Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidade and Tobago, and Venezuela ( Wilkerson et al. 2021).
