Genus Australambrysus Reynoso & Sites, 2021
Discussion. In the original description of Australambrysus, Reynoso-Velasco & Sites (2021) had difficulties in diagnosing the genus morphologically, mainly due to the gap in the taxonomic knowledge of the South American species previously included in Ambrysus . Revisionary studies are still needed for most species, which will certainly contribute to a better morphological definition of the taxon. The genus has 21 valid species, of which eight were allocated to the recently proposed A. plax species complex ( Sites 2023a). Below, we are confirming the inclusion of A. fraternus to the genus, and add two new species. Australambrysus fraternus and one of the new species belong to the A. plax species complex; the other new species is not assigned to a complex.
