Range: —Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); specimens from Venezuela and Colombia may be a different species.

Ecology: —Very common; epiphytic and less commonly terrestrial in humid forests, usually in the dark forest understory; 1100–3200 m.

Notes: —Pinna segments more regularly arranged and pointed outwards than in Hymenophyllum plumieri . Groups of fertile pinnae are often interrupted by a few sterile ones.
