Abrodictyum C.Presl View in CoL , Hymenophyllaceae (Presl) 20–21. 1843 [ Abh. Königl. Böhm. Ges. Wiss., ser. 5, 3: 112. 1843].

Abrodictyum is pantropical and comprises ca. 30 species in two subgenera: subg. Abrodictyum , entirely paleotropical (southeast Asia, Australasia, and Polynesia) and subg. Pachychaetum (C.Presl) Ebihara & K.Iwats. ( Ebihara et al. 2006), pantropical. Nearly all of the species are terrestrial or epipetric, especially along stream banks or in deep, dark, wet forests. The only species in Bolivia is in subg. Pachychaetum, species of which are usually thicker-textured than in subg. Abrodictyum and have suberect or short-creeping (vs. long-creeping), often thick rhizomes, and a base chromosome number of x = 33. Abrodictyum is part of the trichomanoid clade and comprises species formerly included in Trichomanes s.l. The Bolivian species has finely divided 3–4-pinnate blades with very narrow ultimate segments, tubular sori, and long-exserted receptacles. Abrodictyum is sister to the small Old World genus Cephalomanes .
