Range: — Jamaica; Costa Rica; southeastern and northern Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP); southeastern Brazil.

Ecology: —Uncommon to moderately common; sometimes in wet rocky crevices, on Sphagnum or clay banks, in humid forests, also in shrubby secondary habitats; (1100–) 1900–3800 m.

Notes: —Superficially similar to some species of Hymenophyllum , e.g., H. verecundum . Blades pendent or sometimes stiffly erect in parts of the range; this variation may indicate that the species is a complex.
