Current name: Pachydactylus montanus Werner, 1910

Holotype: PEM R16050 (formerly AMG 6879 View Materials ); Onscephans [=Onseepkans] on the Orange River , not far from Pella, Northern Cape Province, South Africa; Dr. H. Maughan Brown, date unknown.

Remarks: The type description refers to one ‘type’, which is thus the holotype. Holotype with a detached tail. The description mentions additional non-type material, namely PEM R16051 (formerly AM 2593), from Kakamas.
