Diagnosis. Adult wingspan 6.5−9.5 mm. Tenupalpa venustalis can be distinguished from its congeners by the white forewing with a distal patch surrounded by dark grey scales. The male genitalia are distinctive as the anellus lobe is very narrow and long, exceeding the apex of the valva. The female genitalia are characterized by heavily sclerotized papillae anales and segment VIII, and the absence of a signum.

Distribution. China (Gansu, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Hubei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Zhejiang), Japan, Korea, Russia. This species is newly recorded from China and Korea.

Host plants. Fagaceae : Quercus crispula ( Kyaw et al. 2019) , Q. dentata ( Sakamaki 2013; Kyaw et al. 2019), Q. mongolica ( Omelko 1999; Park & Ponomarenko 2007; Sakamaki 2013).

Remarks. The type materials deposited in ZIRAS of Russia were not examined in this study. A detailed re-description of T. venustalis was provided in Kyaw et al. (2019).
