Type specimen. Holotype: Female, [East Madagascar], [Integral] Natural Reserve no. 3 [Zahamena National Park], Andranomalaza, Ivelona valley, x [19]57, leg. P. Soga; gen. slide no. CIS-7392 (in MNHN).
Diagnosis. In the forewing pattern, this species is very similar to the holotype of the preceding new species ( T. septentriella Park & Koo , sp. nov.), but it can be distinguished from it by a larger size (26 mm while only 22 mm in the latter), the forewing with a distinct blackish patch near 3/4 of costa, the 2 nd segment of the labial palpus thickened with more rough scales ventrally, and the hind wing with dark-brown spots along termen. The female genitalia are characterized by having a large, uniquely elongated signum as in Fig. 12C View FIGURE 12 .
Description. Female ( Figs. 12A, B View FIGURE 12 ). Wingspan, 26.0 mm. Head: pale grayish orange centrally, with yellowishwhite, long erect scales laterally. Antenna slightly longer than forewing; scape elongated, slightly dilated distally, yellowish white speckled with brownish scales; flagellum yellowish white, without distinct annulations. 2 nd segment of labial palpus thickened, pale grayish orange on outer surface, paler on inner surface; 3 rd segment as long as 2 nd segment, yellowish white laterally, brownish ventrally. Thorax: tegula and thorax grayish orange dorsally. Forewing slightly broadened distally; ground color pale grayish orange, with scattered brownish-orange scales; antemedian band absent; postmedian band oblique, sharply angled on vein M 1; costa arched around basal 1/3, nearly straight medially, then slightly oblique beyond 3/4; apex sharply produced; termen oblique, concave above middle; fringe concolorous with brownish median line; venation similar to that of T. septentriella . Hind wing venation complete; base of M 2 remote from M 3 +CuA 1; M 3 and CuA 1 stalked for basal 1/3. Abdomen: grayish orange dorsally; spinose zones narrow, along posterior edges of terga.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 12C View FIGURE 12 ): Apophyses anteriores about half of the length of the apophyses posteriores. Abdominal sternum VIII deeply emarginated medially. Antrum weakly developed. Ductus bursae broadened in distal 3/4, broader anteriorly, then narrowed at the junction with corpus bursae; ductus seminalis arising from near middle. Corpus bursae long, as long as ductus bursae; signum plate long, about 1/3 length of corpus bursae, with dense minute spines on its surface, and stronger spines on anterior margin and posterior edges.
Male unknown.
Distribution. Madagascar (eastern region).
Etymology. The species name is derived from the type locality.
Remarks. The type locality of this new species is far from that of T. septentriella sp. nov. (which is situated in the northern region of the island).
