"Habitat in Europae septentrionalis uliginosis." RCN: 7410.

Lectotype (Jonsell & Jarvis in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 68. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 373 ( LAPP) .

Generitype of Myrica Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 191. 1929).

Current name: Myrica gale L. ( Myricaceae ).

Note: Verdcourt & Polhill (in Taxon 46: 347. 1997) proposed M. cerifera L. as conserved type of the genus but the proposal was not recommended by the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 48: 365. 1999).

Jonsell & Jarvis (in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 152. 1994) provide additional information on their 1993 choice of lectotype.
