This genus comprises 23 species worldwide (ThripsWiki 2023), of which 13 are described from the New World and 10 from Africa and Asia (Mound et al. 2011; Mound & Infante 2017). It can be recognized among other genera by a combination of the following characters: reticulated head and pronotum with prominent markings; 8-segmented antennae with forked sense cones; hind coxa with a coiled apodeme; abdominal tergite X with partial split; one segmented tarsus. The genus is new to Saudi Arabia representing five species.
