Euphysothrips Bagnall View in CoL View at ENA
This genus comprises two fungus-feeding species, and is widespread in southern Europe, South Africa, Middle East, India and Timor Leste ( Mound 2018). The genus can be distinguished from other genera of Thripinae by: anterior and posterior margin of pronotum with large number of small setae; tergite VIII with well-developed comb of microtrichia arising unusually from a distinct craspedum. The genus may be related to Craspedothrips , which is another Thripidae genus in which two species are known to be associated with rust fungi. However, it can be separated from Craspedothrips by absence of paired dorsoapical setae on antennal segment I; fore wings first and second veins with fewer setae.
