This genus includes four species, all described from the Americas. The genus is unique among the genera of Thripinae and can be distinguished easily by: usually apterous body; antennal segment III with no sense cone, IV with simple sense cone; coarsely sculptured body and trapezoidal pronotum; posterior margin of abdominal tergites and sternites with tooth like fringes ( Masumoto 2010).
