Type locality.

Dr. Smith’s plantation, 6 miles northeast of Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi, USA; stratum: Vicksburg Group; age: Oligocene.

Type material.

Lectotype, ANSP IP13412 (designation in Moore 1962: 51, Richards 1968: 119, MacNeil and Dockery 1984: 240); paralectotypes, ANSP 13413, 6 shells (as “paratype” in Richards 1968: 119, MacNeil and Dockery 1984: 240).
