Comparative remarks. This species shares the general habitus, male antenne surpassing pronotal posterior angles, and the sclerites of bursa copulatrix in females with L. candezei , L. carmelensis (female unknown), and L. solai . The most similar species to L. ganglbaueri is L. candezei . These species share also the body size, pubescence with a combination of greyish to reddish-brown/dark brown and white setae, and a median lobe of aedeagus distinctly shorter than parameres ( Figs 36–46 View FIGURES 36–51 , 52–59 View FIGURES 52–64 ). For the discussion about the differences between these species see the „comparative remarks“ under L. candezei . Lacon solai from Turkey differs from L. ganglbaueri in having usually larger body (10.0– 14.5 mm long), and a median lobe of aedeagus longer, reaching apical lobes of parameres ( Figs 52–55, 59 View FIGURES 52–64 , 70–73, 77 View FIGURES 70–79 ). Lacon carmelensis from Israel differs from L. ganglbaueri in having a darker body, body pubescence with mostly dark brown and some white setae, and the aedeagus without phallobase stouter, less than four times longer than wide (more than 4.2 times longer than wide in L. ganglbaueri ), and a median lobe of aedeagus relatively longer, not reaching parameral lateral tooth of only about 0.5 length of the apical parameral lobe (of about the length of the apical lobe or more in L. ganglbaueri ) ( Figs 52–55, 59 View FIGURES 52–64 , 65, 66, 69 View FIGURES 65–69 ).

Diagnostic characters. Male ( Figs 52–54, 56, 58, 59 View FIGURES 52–64 ). Body 8.3–9.8 mm long and 2.3–2.6 mm wide (lectotype: 8.5 mm long, 2.3 mm wide). Body moderately shiny, reddish brown to dark brown, with antennae, pronotal posterior angles and legs ferruginous; covered with mostly greyish to reddish brown/dark brown setae (some of them tricolorous: greyish, reddish brown, and white) and several white setae, all moderately long and thick.Antenna relatively long, surpassing posterior angles of pronotum usually by about 1.0–1.5 antennomeres. Antennomere III 1.15–1.25 times as long as antennomere IV, median antennomeres rather widely serrate, about as long as wide. Pronotum 1.1–1.2 times as long as wide, with posterior angles slightly divergent, disk densely covered with distinct, large, deep punctures, separated by about 0.5–1 times as diameter of puncture; surface between punctures flat, shiny. Scutellar shield about 1.5 times as long as wide, with anterior margin slightly concave. Elytra 2.3–2.4 as long as wide, and 2.4–2.6 times as long as pronotum, with punctures of two sizes; smaller punctures of about 2/3 of size of larger punctures. Aedeagus (without phallobase) slender, more than 4.2 times longer than wide; median lobe short, not reaching lateral hook of paramere of about the length of the apical parameral lobe; parameres subparallel-sided along most of their length, apically with inner sides distinctly diverging; apical parameral lobe elongate, narrow, with outer margin more or less straight, apically subacute [lectotype specimen already dissected; basal part of aedeagus including phallobase missing ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 52–64 )].

Female ( Figs 55, 57, 60–64 View FIGURES 52–64 ). Body 9.2–9.5 mm long and 2.5–2.7 mm wide. Body usually more robust than in male. Antenna shorter, not reaching 2/3 of pronotal length. Antennomere III 1.20–1.35 times as long as antennomere IV; median antennomeres of similar shape as in male. Pronotum relatively shorter and wider, sides widely rounded, 1.05–1.10 times as long as wide, sides equally rounded, posterior angles slightly convergent. Elytra combined 2.1–2.2 times as long as wide, about 2.1 times as long as pronotum. Pregenital segments, ovipositor and sclerites of bursa copulatrix as in Figs 60–64 View FIGURES 52–64 , respectively.

Immature stages unknown.

Distribution. Lebanon ( Fig. 194 View FIGURE 194 ). For the habitat photograph see Fig. 188 View FIGURES 188–193 .
