Diagnosis. On wing pattern, O. extensa is similar to O. fuscopurpurea . However, O. extensa can be distinguished by the following characters: the forewing apex is more elongate; the outer margin below the apex is more protruding; the wings are not diffused with pale pink scales; a black round patch is present on the tornal patch of the forewing; the white line on the discocellulars of both wings is indistinct. In O. fuscopurpurea , the forewing apex is shorter, the outer margin below the apex is almost straight, the black patch on the tornal patch of the forewing is replaced by a broad black wavy line, pale pink scales are present on the forewing costa, apex and near the tornal patch, and white speckles are distinct on both angles of the cell on both wings. O. extensa is also close to O. pingorum Holloway (Borneo, Sulawesi, Buru, New Guinea) on both external and genital characters, and cannot be distinguished externally. The valvae of both species are divided into two large, straight, well developed processes, which are longer and distally spinose in O. extensa , but shorter and smooth in the proximal process, and totally spinose in the distal process in O. pingorum . The aedeagus of O. extensa has a long posterior process, and a central bulge.
Distribution. China (Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan), Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia.
Remarks. The species was recently recorded in Japan by Nakajima (2009).
