Diagnosis. Small-sized, non-metallic; tarsi 4-segmented; anelli indistinct, funicular segments reduced and fused, except the last one (F5), which is large and provided with sensilla; mesosoma either with a large anterior projection, a small protuberance or without any projection; hind tibia with a more or less developed pecten on inner side; S and P not unusually short; clypeal margin slightly produced.

Comments. Zebe La Salle was described from Brunei to include a single species, Z. cornutus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). It has two striking characters, one of which, the 4-segmented tarsi is unique in Pteromalidae , whereas the other, the long projection of the mesoscutum, is unique in Chalcidoidea. La Salle (2005) suggested its placement within Pireninae based on several characters that are common in many genera of this subfamily (e.g. the shape of the antenna and the venation of the fore wing, similar to those of Petipirene , the protruding clypeal margin, as in Sirovena and most Macroglenes , deep notauli, presence of strong erect setae on the head and mesosoma, etc.), but not present in Eulophidae , stating that the reduced number of tarsal segments should be regarded as another example of reduction, along with other reductions already known to occur in Pireninae .
