The genus can be recognized by having the anterolateral angles of the pronotum acute, surpassing the posterior margin of the eyes in dorsal view; the anterolateral margins of the pronotum are reflexed; the labium reaching the last abdominal segment; the labial segment II reaching the metacoxae; the anteocular region without a process; the clypeus is slightly longer than the mandibular plates; the antennae is five segmented; the antennal segment I surpassing the apex of the head; and the metasternum clearly carinate mesially on its entire length ( Rolston 1992).
