Supplementary descrIptIon. Projection of antennomere VII about 1.4X length of the antennomere, those of antennomeres VIII–X about 1.6X lengths of respective antennomeres; apices of projections rounded; length ratio of antennomeres as follows: 17:10:29:16:18:14:16:18:20:19:35 ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Abdominal ventrite V protuberant, broadened and level posteriorly ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 19 ).

Ovipositor ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 26 – 29 ): paraproct, about 1.1X length of coxite, length about 1.4X width, sides straight and subparallel; proctiger semicircular and protuberant apically in dorsal view, tapered posteriorly and slightly curved ventrally.

Length: 9.0– 9.5 mm (holotype: 9.0); width: 4.8–5.0 mm (holotype: 4.8).

DIagnosIs. This species can be easily distinguished from other members of Cyanopenthe by its reddish, bronzed scutellum, without a distinct impression in central area, more rounded sides of the projections of antennomeres VIII–XI, distinctly coarsely punctate pronotum, and triangular scutellum.

DIstrIbutIon. Champion (1916) described this species based on a single specimen without locality data. In this case the BMNH Registration Number '71.6' gives no further useful information on the specimen's origin. Champion subsequently received a further specimen from Western Almora, northern India from his son, the forester Harry Champion, which he recognized as conspecific. Nikitsky (2005) cites an additional female specimen from Bhutan, from the collection of the Commonwealth Institute of Entomology, now in BMNH.
