status

18. Lema (Lema) michioi

Aedeagus ( Figs. 82 View FIGURES 76 – 91 , 100, 101 View FIGURES 92 – 103 ): Median lobe stubby, becoming broad toward apex; ventral edge rounded and slightly projecting at middle; median foramen expanding apical 1/3 of ventral surface of median lobe. Tegmen forming rod-shaped lobe in lateral view.

Male internal reproductive system ( Fig. 110 View FIGURES 104 – 118 ): Testis large, almost oval and slightly constricted at middle (i.e. straw rice-bag-shaped), yellowish orange in color. Accessory gland small relative to testis, tubular, 1/4–1/ 3 times as long as maximal width of apparent testis. Basal surface of lateral ejaculatory duct close to each other; separated lateral ejaculatory duct relatively long, a little less than 1/4–1/2 as long as maximal width of apparent testis; common ejaculatory duct tapering toward apex but nearly uniform in some individuals, 2/3–1 times as long as maximal width of apparent testis.

Female internal reproductive system ( Figs. 125 View FIGURES 119 – 138 , 149 & 150 View FIGURES 139 – 162 ): Spermathecal organ connected to bursa copulatrix apically. Spermathecal capsule hook-shaped, light yellowish brown except proximal part with light brown; proximal part of spermathecal capsule short in length, uniform in width, curving ventrally; spermathecal duct long, 1.1–1.3 times as long as body length; spermathecal gland tubular, becoming bold toward apex, 1.3–1.5 times as long as maximal length of spermathecal capsule.

19. Lema (Lema) scuterallis (only dried specimens were observed for both sexes)

Aedeagus ( Figs. 83 View FIGURES 76 – 91 , 102 & 103 View FIGURES 92 – 103 ): Median lobe stubby, ventral edge of median orifice projecting at right angle with rounded apex; median foramen shorter than apical 1/3 of ventral surface of median lobe. Tegmen forming club-shaped lobe in lateral view.

Female spermathecal organ ( Figs. 151 & 152 View FIGURES 139 – 162 ): Spermathecal capsule hook-shaped, distal 1/3 yellowish brown and remaining brown in color; proximal part of spermathecal capsule tubular, uniform in width and curving ventrally at right angle; spermathecal duct relatively long, about 10 times as long as maximal length of spermathecal capsule; spermathecal duct about 2 times as long as maximal length of spermathecal capsule.
