Description of Bacillus proteolyticus LPB 0288
Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium (0.7-0.8 μm wide, 1.8-2.0 μm long). Colonies grown on R2 A agar are white, irregular, lobate, and flat. Oxidase GoogleMaps activity is positive. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for urease activity; hydrolysis of aesculin and gelatin; and assimilation of D- glucose, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, malic acid, and trisodium citrate, but negative for nitrate reduction; indole production; glucose fermentation; activity of arginine dihydrolase and β -galactosidase; and assimilation of L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, capric acid, adipic acid, and phenylacetic acid. Strain LPB0288 About LPB (= NIBRBAC000503338) was isolated from a seashore sand sample collected from Gangneung, Republic of Korea (37°44 ʹ 54.0 ʺ N, 128°58 ʹ 26.0 ʺ E).
