Lectotype (Steentoft & al. in Taxon 40: 663. 1991): Herb. Linn. No. 1274.111, larger, right specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Gracilariopsis longissima (S.G. Gmel.) Steentoft & al. ( Gracilariaceae ).

Note: A later homonym of Fucus confervoides Huds. (Fl. Anglica: 474. 1762), as noted by Silva & al. (in Univ. Calif. Publ. Bot. 79: 917. 1996), and hence illegitimate.
