Description. Background coloration yellowish, striations and punctations on surface of head, face and pronotum dark brown (Figs. 1–4). Crown yellowish brown (Figs. 1, 3). Face with pair of longitudinal cibarial muscle impressions in central part on both sides of midline standing out sharply against surrounding areas due to another sculpture of cuticle and almost utter absence of brown dots. Vertex marked with dark brown, black spot below each antennal fossa, eyes dark brown with reddish tinge; ocelli transparent (Fig. 4). Pronotum yellowish with dense dark brown striations and with two dark spots on fore margin behind eyes (pronotal calli) (Figs. 1, 3). Scutellum with two black triangular spots in side angles, central area black with few scattered yellow speckles (Figs. 1, 3). Forewings transparent brownish, venation distinctly visible, distal veins, especially in apical part of wing, dark brown (Fig. 2). Legs brown, marked with black. Amount of dark pigmentation varying between specimens.

Apodemes of 2nd abdominal tergite in male as a rule wider than their length in middle, with tips rounded or somewhat angular (Figs. 5–7); 2nd abdominal sternal apodemes slender, with more or less sharp tips slightly bent towards each other, gap between apodemes wide, about three times as great as length of apodemes (Figs. 8–10).

Pygofer lobe with additional process half as long as the main one, with small stout seta and several scattered setae at its base and with some setae on ventral margin (Fig. 11). Subgenital plate in lateral view narrow, only slightly widening distally, projecting beyond caudal margin of pygofer, with scattered hair-like setae (Fig. 11). Style slender, slightly widening distally, tip sharply bent, hook-like, rounded (Fig. 12). Connective long and narrow with finger-like protrusion in middle, both lateral arms slender, bent to dorsum (Figs. 13–14). Aedeagus rather broad at base and gradually tapering towards tip in side view, with very broad base and narrow shaft in ventral view, gonopore wide, occupying middle half of shaft (Figs. 15–16). Dorsal connective weakly developed as in other species of genus Macropsis (Fig. 17).

Female unknown.

Body length (including tegmina): 3, 4.2 – 4.5 mm.

Host. Unknown.

Material examined. 6 3, China: Yunnan Province, Diqing, Shangri-La, 3280 m above sea level, 8. VIII. 2012, collected by Li Hu (n=3), Li Juan (n=2) and Fan Zhihua (n=1). Holotype was not examined, identification of this distinctive species was based upon the primary description and illustration.

Distribution. Hengduan Mts. region, Yunnan Prov. (Lijiang, Yulong Mt.; Shangri-La), China (Fig. 18).
