Type Locality: Bolivia, Tarija Dept., Sama, 4,000 m.

Vernacular Names: Lewis' Tuco-tuco.

Distribution: S Bolivia.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Closely related to frater ( Cook et al., 1990; Cook and Yates, 1994; Lessa and Cook, 1998). May be semi-aquatic (Anderson, pers. comm.). Karyotype has 2n=56 and FN=74 ( Cook et al., 1990).
