Diagnosis: Symmetrical, pedunculated and sessile forms, in which the large carina and rostrum are surrounded by alternating rows of imbricating plates.

Comment: The order is paraphyletic and includes s p e c i e s t h a t f o r m a s t e m g r o u p t o b o t h t h e Verrucomorpha and the Balanomorpha .
