Neotype (Reveal in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 470. 1997): U.S.A. Michigan: Ingham Co. East Lansing, 8 Jun 1978, Gillis 14675 (BM).
Current name: Gymnocladus dioicus (L.) K. Koch ( Fabaceae : Caesalpinioideae ).
Note: Although Isely (in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 25: 215. 1975) suggested a possible lectotype might exist at P, and Lee (in J. Arnold Arbor. 57: 104. 1976) proposed an interim typification based on a Linnaean generic description, neither made an effective type choice and, in the absence of any original material, Reveal designated a neotype.
