Batrachotetrix cantans Saussure, 1888 View in CoL
Material examined. Namibia, Lüderitzbucht 1925 (1♂, 2♀) ( MZUH) .
Remarks. The above listed specimens are fully winged; four species belonging to this genus have tegmina longer than the abdomen: B. braini Uvarov, 1931 , B. cantans Saussure, 1888 , B. loricatus Saussure, 1884 and B. peringueyi Saussure, 1888 . All occur in South Africa and three ( B. braini , B. cantans and B. peringueyi ) in the Cape province of South Africa. It is possible to exclude that the specimen from Namibia is B. braini by its very rugose integuments; following the key of Saussure (1888) it was possible to exclude also B. loricatus , which has brachypterous females. Sulphureous hind wings are typical for B. cantans while B. peringueyi has cerulean wings; Namibian specimens have sulphureous wings. Lüderitzbucht is ca. 800 km from Prieska (the type locality of B. cantans ); no fully winged species of this genus was hitherto known from Namibia.
