Material examined. 2 4th instar larvae with pharate pupae, Brazil, SP, Ibaté, Ribeirão das Anhumas (21º87'S 48º00'W), 2010, leg. H. Saulino, (E3-23, E3-24 LEIA-UFSCar); 1 4th instar larva, same locality, 2010, leg. H. Saulino, (E3-22 LEIA-UFSCar).

Diagnostic characters. Larva: Head capsule yellowish with mandibular tips and mentum dark brown, posmentum brown. Larvae bright red when alive. Total length near 6.2 mm. Ventral head length 205 µm. Antenna 5-segmented, basal segment 61 µm long. AR 0.83; antennal blade 51 µm long, shorter than antennal flagelum ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 d); Lauterborn organs very large, extend almost to tip of segment 3. Dorsal sclerites of head as in figure 19a, clypeus 61 µm long. Pecten epipharyngis formed by three toothed plates ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 b). Premandible with two major and one minor teeth ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 c); brush well developed. Mandible 151 µm long, with small dorsal tooth, apical and four inner teeth dark brown; seta subdentalis slender, 34 µm long ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 e). Mentum 125 µm wide, with sixteen dark teeth; median teeth 1/2 shorter than first laterals; 2nd lateral teeth smaller than the 3rd lateral teeth ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 f). Ventral plate 138 µm long, with very distinct striations, distance between ventromental plates 51 µm. Pupa: Tergite I bare, II–VI covered with shagreen, spines near central part of anterior margin stronger, VII and VIII bare. Conjuntives III/IV and IV/V with two large patches of anteriorly directed spines. Hook row continuous with near 80 curved spines occupying near 1/2 width of segment II. Combs of segment VIII consisting of 30–35 teeth ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 g). Abdominal setation: segment II–IV with three L setae, V–VI with three taeniate setae, VII with four taeniate setae, VIII with five taeniate setae.

Comments. This morphotype was previously named as Endotribelos (?) sp2 by Trivinho-Strixino (2014). Another larva called “ Tanytarsus (Tribelos) ” with similar antenna was collected by Roback in his Peruvian- Amazon expedition ( Roback, 1960). According to the author, the large Lauterborn organ involving a possible third antennal segment may indicate that the specimen belongs, perhaps, to another genus not yet described. However, the presence of the mentum with the median teeth smaller than the first laterals and the clypeus separated from frontal apotome justifies the inclusion of this morphotype in the genus Endotribelos .
