Additional characters. Ventral carinae ( Fig. 16): Prosternal carina with acute posterior corner, posterior edge nearly straight; mesosternal carina with anterior edge appressed to and united with posterior edge of prosternal carina, posterior outline indistinctly concave; metasternal carina longest, with anterior corner rounded and posterior corner almost 90°, posterior outline straight; carinae of abdominal sternites lower; carina of sternite II rounded posteriorly, with anterior edge touching metasternal carina; carina of sternite III with posterior corner almost straight, anterior corner touching posterior edge of carina of sternite II; following segments acarinate.

Material examined. BRAZIL: 2 brachypterous females, Santa Catarina State, Dionísio Cerqueira, right tributary of Toldo waterfall (26°18’11,4”S, 53°37’01,6”W), 15.IX.2011, A.M. Pes, P. V GoogleMaps . Cruz , R. Boldrini and N. Hamada coll. ( INPA) .

Discussion. Initially, specimens of N. lanemeloi from the type locality of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil were misidentified as N. jaczewskii by Nieser & Melo (1997) ( Nieser & Chen 2002). Subsequently, Pelli et al. (2006) recorded this species from Serra da Canastra, which is also in Minas Gerais. Two years later, Mazzucconi et al. (2008) recorded for the first time this species from Argentina, in the Province of Misiones, which borders Santa Catarina State in southern Brazil where our specimens were collected ( Fig. 18). Only N. usingeri had been recorded in this Brazilian region ( Moreira et al. 2011); thus, this is the second species of Neotrephes recorded in southern Brazil. Characteristics of the female subgenital plate from Santa Catarina ( Fig. 17) agree exactly with Figure 11 of Nieser & Chen (2002).
