Notes

Common on disturbed sands and desert shrub communities in the vicinity of MDRS (Fig. 38), this species was previously recorded in the nearby San Rafael Swell as Oenothera caespitosa Nutt. ( Harris 1983). Here we follow Welsh et al. (1993) and treat these specimens as var. navajoensis , based on the characteristic fringe of trichomes on the leaf margin.
