Etymology: This specific name setosus is a Latin adjective referring to the plumose setae on the outer margin of the peduncle of each pleopod in this taxon (K.H. Barnard 1940: 467).
Remarks: The nomenclatural history of this taxon parallels that of Talitriator calvus precisely (see above).
