16. Phyllophaga (Phyllophaga) fragilipennis (Blanchard, 1851)

Redescription. Male genital capsule is short, compact and severely curved ( Fig. 78 View FIGURE 78 ). Parameres are wide, strongly differentiated by a pair of sharp spines on the dorsal side. Aedeagus is adorned with a large number of minute denticles, from which a large, long, sinuous whip is projected from the mid zone.

Comments. The species was described from a male specimen obtained in " Nouvelle-Grenade ". Blanchard (1851) pointed out that this species is similar to P. lanata (Blanchard) and to P. menetriesii . Frey (1975) illustrated the male genital capsule, distinguished by its greater length and sharpness of the lateroventral projections ( Fig. 78 View FIGURE 78 ). It has not been possible to obtain more specimens with more precise data. There are no recent records.
