Javaulius subvirens Marshall, 1956: 64 View in CoL . Type locality: Java, “Tandjong Sarie”

Description. Lectotype ( Fig. 20a View FIGURE 20 ). Length. Pronotum plus elytron 3.16 mm. Legs ferruginous, body black, largely covered with appressed, grey or green, weakly microgranulate scales. Head with transverse angulate sulcus separating rostral base deeply incised, leading ventrad in front of eye; vertex with radial furrows laterally distinct, medially covered by scaling. Eyes asymmetrically convex, drawn posteriad. Rostrum 1.06 X longer than wide, weakly diverging to apex; apical declivity with sunk-in scales, with sparse erect setae; dorsum with distinct median furrow bordered by fine glabrous ridges. Pronotum 1.16 X longer than wide; in basal half at middle with irregular, glabrous wrinkles; laterally coarsely punctate. Elytra 1.15 X as long as wide; dorsally weakly convex; intervals with rows of long, erect, spatulate scales becoming longer and narrow on declivity; interval 6 at middle with tubercle; with 10 striae, stria 5 at middle interrupted. Genitalia. Penis ( Fig. 20b View FIGURE 20 ) with sides of body weakly converging from base to rounded apex. Apodeme 2.22 X as long as body of penis. Transfer apparatus straight, in apical third curved.

Material examined. Type specimens. Male, lectotype by present designation: INDONESIA, Java: Tandjong Sarie , on “dadap” ( Erythrina ); labels ( Fig. 20c View FIGURE 20 ); condition: fair; tarsus of left foreleg and part of left antennal funicle broken and missing; formerly pinned through right elytron; genitalia in glycerol in microtube; DNA extraction ARC4016 View Materials (GenBank # OR557433) ( BMNH).

Notes. Marshall (1956) based the original description on one male and one female; he did not designate a holotype. The round label stating “ Holotype ” has subsequently been added by the staff of the BMNH. A lectotype is designated to ensure stability of nomenclature. The precise location of the type locality is unknown. The place “Tandjong Sarie”, or its modern spelling “Tandung Sari” is a place name common in Indonesia: there is at least one place with this name in West Java , and another in East Java.
