D e s c r i p t i o n: ♀. Length 8-12 mm. Flagellum bristle-shaped, with 46-50 flagellomeres; 1 st flagellomere 3.1-3.3× as long as wide and 0.4× as long as eye; preapical flagellomeres square and slightly moniliform. Temple strongly and roundly narrowed behind eye. OED 1.3-1.5× ocellar diameter. Inner eye margins slightly convergent ventrally. Minimal facial width 0.8× eye length. Clypeus 1.6-1.9× as wide as long, slightly concave and bi-lobed apically. MI 0.4-0.8. Mandible short. Epomia weak. Mesoscutum finely and very densely punctate and granulate, almost dull. Scutellum not carinate. Propodeum rugose-punctate; spiracle slit-shaped; apical transverse carina ± present, at least medially. Hind femur 4.7-5.0× longer than wide. Hind claws strongly bent apically, with strong teeth. Areolet pointed frontally, oblique, vein 2m-cu in or slightly distad its middle; ramellus short; vein 1cu-a interstitial or slightly antefurcal. Tergites finely granulate, shining, with short sparse setae laterally. 1 st tergite 1.9-2.2× as long as wide. 2 nd tergite 0.9-1.0× as long as wide. Ovipositor sheath 0.3-0.4× as long as hind tibia and 0.7-0.8× as long as 1 st tergite; ovipositor straight.

Color: black. Setae on mesosoma grey. Clypeus usually reddish apically. Stripes on flagellomeres 8/9-15/16 (sometimes weak), sometimes collar and hind edge of pronotum, spot on scutellum and often 2 nd to 4 th hind tarsomeres ivory. Metasoma ± red; 1 st tergite sometimes black basally; 6 th and 7 th tergites sometimes brownish. Coxae and trochanters usually black; legs otherwise mainly red; femora sometimes ± brown or black ( var. tristis ); hind tibia mainly and mid and hind tarsus black. Pterostigma brownish.

Var. syriacus : Coxae and trochanters ± red. Collar, subtegular ridge, hind edge of pronotum, tegula and scutellum ivory.

♁. Flagellum with 45-51 flagellomeres. 1 st flagellomere 4.0-4.1× as long as wide. OED 1.0-1.3× ocellar diameter. MI 0.5. Hind femur 5.0-5.2× as long as wide. 1 st tergite 1.8- 2.2× as long as wide. 2 nd tergite 1.0× as long as wide.

Color: black. Stripes on flagellomeres 13-15/16 (sometimes very weak or missing), sometimes two spots on face, sometimes collar, often hind edge of pronotum, tegula and/or subtegular ridge yellow. 2 nd to 7 th tergites usually entirely red. Fore and mid legs yellowish frontally; hind femur usually red, ± infuscate apically, femora sometimes mainly brown ( var. albipictor ). Pterostigma reddish-brown. Coloration otherwise as in ♀.
